JUMPING THE GUN ON THE 4TH

This is a photo I took of Shabree right before she left with Chuck to go to the supermarket. We're celebrating the 4th of July a day early, since he didn't want to be staying up late...um, past 8:30 or so...on a night before he has to go to work.
I have a cake - Paula Deen's Gooey Butter Cake - in the oven, and have made cheese dip to go with the red and blue tortilla chips. Just imagine the additives and who-knows-what chemicals in those! I'm taking weiners and buns too, and Chuck has the meat for the pit. Amy's bringing chili and other people are bringing beans, potato salad and whatever else they want.
Things have been so busy the past few days that I haven't had time to blog. Plus, Shabree started a blog, and has been really hogging the computer. What time I've had to be on it, is mostly spent uploading and cropping her photos.
Here are a couple of cute photos from the other day - kittens in the honeysuckle vines.

Your Fourth of July menu sounds delicious! I love watching Miss Paula make her gooey cakes; I bet the one you made came out with the perfect amount of goo! Did you end up making chili dogs?

Shabree is adorable...just adorable. :)

Thanks, Amy. We had a great time tonight. No fireworks out of respect for a veteran at our gathering who is really bothered by them. But we didn't miss them.

The cake came out delicious, and the chili dogs were good too. Plus we had lots of other things to go with it all.

All in all, it was a wonderful get-together, and everyone had a fantastic time.

Thanks for your comment.

Thanks, Sue. The two yellow kittens remind me of your 'cat pack'. The third one looks solid black in the picture, but she has yellow flecks on her sides, like her mother.
